Cowlitz County Chaplaincy
The Chaplaincy is a 501c.3 non-profit ministry dedicated to providing professional support to Emergency/Police/Fire personnel and their families as well as public citizens in times of crisis. They provide free relational, emotional and/or spiritual support (regardless of faith base). They bring God's love and grace into the 'dark times' of people's lives.
Master Chaplain Lyle Prather
A graduate of Berean School of the Bible, Lyle was ordained by the Assembly of God in 1981 and began serving as a volunteer Chaplain in 1983. In 1985 he became the first full-time, paid Chaplain. Lyle earned a PhD in counseling in 1990 and is a licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor with the National Christian Counselors Association. He holds memberships in the National Board of Christian Clinical Therapists, International Conference of Police Chaplains, and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
Senior Chaplain Ste ve White
An ordained Baptist minister, Steve served churches for 24 years and began as a volunteer chaplain with the Longview PD in 2002. He went full-time as a paid chaplain in July 2003. Steve has extensive training in Critical Incident Stress Management, is “CIT” certified and a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains, the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and the NW CISM Network. He remains active in the local church and Ministerial Association.
